The Frirsz Tailpiece
A True Breakthrough
The Frirsz tailpiece dramatically improves the projection, balance, clarity, and sensitivity of a string instrument. Wolf tones are no longer a problem as this tailpiece virtually eliminates them. This design has been thoroughly tested and proven. It works.
Elmar Olivera, renowned violin soloist recently installed a Frirsz tailpiece on his modern performing violin. He was looking for a way to tone down some of the brightness of the instrument and address some wolf tone issues. After installing the Frirsz tailpiece, Olivera now describes the sound of his instrument as "having more ring, and eased up on the brilliance." His previous wolf tones are diminished to the point where Olivera says "I no longer have any apprehension playing – for example – the Sibelious Concerto."
Paul Arnold, violinist with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra says the Frirsz tailpiece "opens up a rainbow of tonal colors and brilliant clarity that in many cases is truly breathtaking." He "could not be more enthusiastic" and he recommends the tailpiece "to students, colleagues, and to all who are interested in realizing a significant improvement in the performance of their instrument."
