Our cello tailpiece is truly a breakthrough. Like our violin and viola tailpieces, the string attachment positions are progressively stepped to maximize afterlength on the bass strings. This improves low frequency resonance, optimizes harmonics, and eliminates wolf tones. The top of the tailpiece has an asymmetric twist that redistributes the downforce on the bridge and enhances the projection and balance of the instrument. We could have stopped here and offered a very compelling tailpiece, but we went farther.

The Frirsz cello tailpiece body features a skeletal design that reduces weight to improve the sensitivity and responsiveness of the instrument. We are introducing the first integrated modular fine tuners that can be used interchangeably with traditional “keyhole” type string attachment inserts. This enables the player to personalize our tailpiece to her or his preferred configuration. This patented feature will be used in future violin and viola tailpiece designs. Finally, we focused on aesthetics and integrated all of these performance enhancements into a fresh, organic shape that is beautiful on every cello.
